i have acute pylonephritis. i’ve been getting them for almost 5 years now. i take ciprofloxacn and bactrim. I actually take the cipro every day to try and prevent them. But i currently have an infection right now and even though my specialist says it okay i’m worried that my body is growing immune to taking cipro because i take it so often. Is there another option in trying to prevent getting these painful infections?

I have IC but also this year have had recurring UTI’s. This occured after a catherized treatment in my urologist’s office. I have been numerous antibiotics. Urinary samples show blood, white cells and sugar; however when cultured I am always told the sample grows nothing. Perhaps they do not culture it for 5 full days. Can dr Wainstein talk about IC and also about infections if you have the disease?

Also, I dont fell any pain or anything. Its just that I dont urinate enough

I cant urinate well since february of 2007. That day I felt a strange sensation in my penis, I tried peeing and I knew something was wrong because I didnt pee ‘enough’ and i felt like i hadnt urinated.

So its been like that sice that day until yesterday, now I pee and its like i hadnt pee’d anything.
Any recomendations???

I had this last summer, mine got so bad that i was in hospital for 2 weeks, i had many different antibiotics/fluids pumping through my veins as many of the initial antibiotics could not fight it. i was being sick a lot, having violent shakes due to my temperature rising, severe pain in my left kidney and my abdominals. this all began through slight urine problems and aching back pain that i ignored. i advise anyone ignoring anything like this to do something before it gets serious like mine did!

That’s awful. I hope I never get that. I had mine for about 3 weeks but the antibiotics got it in the end.

i have had chronic bladder infection with blood in urine and it amkes it worse when i drink water and a lemon slice in it . i drink ten tall glasses of water daily and i drink caffine free diet drinks two then i wonder why i still get infections

The hospital doctor gave me IV antibiotics called gentamicin. That helped alot and the back pain was gone the next day. He also gave me a 7 day course of cefalexin and that got rid of it completely. I still felt very washed out and weak for over a weak after that though. Am fine now though.

so what happened did u get rid of the infection what did u take

It’s all you need to know though even if it is short. I just had pyelonephritis leading on from cystitis that didn’t respond to antibiotics. The onset is shockingly quick. I had cystitis that was quite bad and I was planning to go back to my family doctor. Friday afternoon at work I thought I had strained my mid back somehow. It was was a deep pain inside my back. It still hurt when I went to bed. The next morning I had a high fever and couldn’t stand up straight. I had to go to hospital!

Straight forward, wish it was longer though. Thanks!

This video is worth watching
